Andreas Antonopoulos Convinces Berlin Shop to Drop Bitpay and Accept Bitcoin Directly
In Berlin’s fashionable Friedrichshain district, a local ice cream shop of all things has revealed they’ve decided to adopt Bitcoin with the local crowd.
The decision came after a conversation with a mysterious “super nice” guy, who was later revealed to be the legendary Bitcoin (BTC) enthusiast and educator Andreas Antonopoulos.
The way towards crypto entrepreneurship began with a Trezor hardware wallet, which they used to directly start accepting BTC via an open sourced payment processor.
Just a few weeks later the same ice cream shop began accepting payments via the Lightning Network, Bitcoin’s second layer scalable solution.
The thread continues to outline that paving the way toward crypto entrepreneurship began with getting a Trezor hardware wallet for cold storage and starting to directly accept Bitcoin via the open-source payment processor BTCPay Server.
Hopefully when customers enter the shop and see BTC is accepted it will cause them to become curious and take part in learning more about Bitcoin and it’s technology.
One of the most famous crypto events will remain forever associated with 22nd of May 2010, the day the first ever purchase with Bitcoin was made. A user on the forums Bitcointalk.org ordered two pizzas at a cost of 10,000 BTC. In today’s prices, that would be an almost $80 million takeaway. Nowadays this day and milestone are celebrated every year as “Bitcoin Pizza Day”
