Nassim Taleb Says That Almost All Bitcoin Fans Are “Total Idiots”
Nassim Taleb, author of “Skin in the Game,” got into a small Twitter feud in which he explained that most investors don’t realize the nuances of a cryptocurrency like Bitcoin.
In a tweet from June 21, Nassim Taleb states that Bitcoin (BTC) is a good idea, but “almost all bitcoiners are total idiots.”
Taleb was talking to self-described “Bitcoin maximalist” Giacomo Zucco, who challenged Taleb’s views of advocating central planning by bureaucrats and politicians with “no skin in the game” as the best risk management strategy.
The former Wall Street trader turned risk management professor has described himself as a localist, a “libertarian for higher levels of central government.”
Libertarian views on Bitcoin
Despite the push for many countries to create central bank digital currencies, there are many in the crypto community who believe that Bitcoin is a way to break free from traditional financial institutions.
Some early BTC adopters such as Roger Ver have been active and staunch advocates of libertarian economics. According to a report published in April, a libertarian think tank fellow bashed the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for stretching regulations in an apparent attempt to push cryptocurrency under regulation.
