Microsoft to Release Collectible Tokens on Ethereum Network!
Microsoft is set to release collectible token which will operate through Azure, on the Ethereum Blockchain Network. “Azure Heroes” were announced to be built on Microsoft’s blockchain-enabled cloud platform Microsoft Azure. The announcement stated that the blockchain non-fungible tokens (NFT) will be used as an incentivizing reward program for its developer community.
The tokens are represented by cartoonish badgers (a play on the word “badge”). The tokens are meant to provide compensation for positive behavior within Azure’s community. Each badger token will have a limited supply. On December 4th Microsoft announced these limits will range from just 100 units to 10,000. Stating:
“Azure Heroes aims to reward individuals for verifiable acts of impact such as coaching, creating demos, building sample code, blogging about Azure or completing certain challenges. Community members that have demonstrated their contributions will be recognised with badges across a number of categories.”
Microsoft’s Tokens on Ethereum
Microsoft have created these non-fungible tokens (NFT) together with blockchain gaming startup “Enjin”, on the Ethereum blockchain. The tokens will be minted and distributed each season. Having the limited quantities be publicly verifiable to any user via a QR code. These codes will then prompt the user to install a wallet.
In order for a user of Azure to be able to obtain a token he must be nominated. Although anyone is able to nominate themselves. Once nominated, individuals will be judged on community impact. And at the end of certain periods, those that had a verifiable impact on the community will be chosen to receive a badger.
Blockchain collectible tokens are gaining traction
Non-fungible tokens (NFT) are blockchain-based tokens that cannot be replaced for something else. Therefore making them unique. Such tokens are gaining traction in use for digital collectible items. With one early example of collectible tokens being “Crytpokitties”.
